Cogeco Email Setup – Iphone (Bell)

I have seen a ton of people trying to figure out how to setup their Cogeco email account on the Iphone. Well lets make life easy for everyone. Here we show you how to configure your Cogeco email address on the IPhone running on Bell service.

FYI: You cannot use the Cogeco SMTP server for your outgoing mail server, because Cogeco restricts access to their SMTP server from anyone who is not on Cogeco Internet service. Since the IPhone is probably running on Bell or Rogers you are therefore off the Cogeco network and must use the SMTP server for your service provider.

Note: I will do another tutorial for Rogers in the not to distant future.

1. Go to the main screen on you Iphone and select the settings button.

8. For outgoing mail server enter mail.1xbell.ca. Only use this SMTP server if you are a Bell mobility Iphone customer. Do not enter a user name and password for the outgoing mail server. I will create a Rogers tutorial in the near future. Hit Save when done

I tried these above steps, but now I get a message “Cannot Get Mail” The connection to the server “pop.cogeco.ca” failed. I would appreciate any help!

I had that issue as well, but it turned out my Cogeco Email address and Password were incorrect. Are you sure you are entering this information correctly? If you are not sure you could go to Cogeco Webmail and try to login with the information you are using to see if it lets you in. You can check out information about Cogeco Webmail at the Cogeco Webmail Tutorial and you can change your cogeco email password in your Cogeco Selfcare account

Can you explain how to set it up using a Samsung galaxy? I tried using the bell outgoing server but it didn’t work.
    Thanks!

    Hi:

Didn’t work for me either…but do you have to be connected through Cogeco’s network (ie WiFi at home) for this to work? I am trying while connected to WiFi at the office. Or should I be on a Bell 3G connection.
