Make sure you know your Cogeco email address and password before starting this tutorial. Please contact Cogeco technical support if you do not have this information or if it has been forgotten. 1. Select the “settings” icon from the main Ipad 2 screen.

2. Choose “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” and then choose “Add Account”

3. Choose “Other”

4. Choose “Add Mail Account”

5. You should see this screen

6. Enter a name for your account, your Cogeco email address and password. Select “Next”

7. The incoming and outgoing mail server information should auto populate. If you need to enter the server information manually, use : Incoming: pop.cogeco.ca Outgoing: smtp.cogeco.ca. Click on Save

Note: If you have a 3G Ipad 2 and plan on using your Cogeco email account when you are away from your home internet connection, you will need to use the smtp server of your 3G provider. Rogers = smtp.rogerswirelessdata.com. Bell: mail.1xbell.ca. Contact your provider if it differs from Rogers or Bell.

8. You will see your account being verfied. If you receive an error you have entered your cogeco email address or password incorrectly.

9. Choose “Yes” here. Cogeco does not use SSL.

10. Account is successfully created.

11. From the main Ipad 2 screen select the mail icon to access your newly added Cogeco email account on your Ipad 2.

Note: For 3G ipad you may need to do the following, if you are using your 3G providers smtp server and plan on accessing your email when using 3G service and not your Cogeco internet connection:
1. Goto “settings”
2. Select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”
3. Choose your Cogeco email account that you just created
4. Select “Advanced”
5. Select “Authentication”
6. Select “MD5 Challenge Response” If that does not work choose “password” instead of “MD5 challenge response.”

Here we will walk you through the process of setting up your Cogeco email address on the Ipad. The best part is that we do it with pictures, to make the process of setting up your Cogeco email address on the apple Ipad even easier.

1. On the main screen of the Ipad press the “settings” icon”

2. Select “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” and then select “Add Account”

5. You will see this screen

6. Enter a name for the account, your Cogeco email address and password. Click “Next”

7. The ipad should automatically populate the incoming and outgoing email server information. If it does
not for some reason here is the info you need to enter: Incoming: pop.cogeco.ca Outgoing: smtp.cogeco.ca. Click on Save

Note: If you have a 3G ipad and plan on using your Cogeco email account when you are not currently connected to a Cogeco internet connection, you will need to use the smtp server of your 3G provider. 8. You will see the ipad trying to verify your account. If you receive an error here you probably entered
in the incorrect Cogeco email address or the password is incorrect.

10. Your account should now be successfully created.

11. Go back to the main ipad screen and select the “Mail” icon. You should now see and be able to read
the email in your newly created Cogeco email account on the ipad.

For example if you only use the Internet for browsing email and searching web pages you would be better off with the Cogeco Lite internet as your usage will not require a lot of bandwidth. There are minimum requirements that your computer should have before you try to install the Cogeco Security Services software to your computer. This post details the minimum requirements needed to successfully run the Cogeco Security Services software on your computer(s). If your computer does not meet the minimum requirements do not install the software to your computer or you could run into bigger problems like system instability issues, boot problems, slow computer, etc…. However, in the new version there does appear to be an install option to install specific features and not others, which could help some systems run the software. As a best practice it’s a good idea to make sure your computer meets or exceeds the system requirements.

If you are unsure if your computer meets the system requirements for Cogeco Security Services we would recommend contacting Cogeco before installing.

DO NOT install the Cogeco Security Services unless your computer(s) meet the minimum requirements.

1. Press and hold the “Setup” button on your Cogeco remote until you see one of the device keys at the top of the remote flash red twice.

2. Enter “981″ using the number pad on your Cogeco remote.

3. You should see one of the device keys flash in red 4 times.

Your Cogeco remote control should now be reset.

Note: If you want to remove the remote control from the previous cable box and re-assign the “CBL” device button you must enter “982″ in the steps above to do this.

Search for the remote control code for your TV or other devices.
1. Turn your TV or other device on.

2. Press the “TV” button on the top of the Cogeco remote control. (Note: You can substitute the “TV” key for the specific device you are programming e.g. VCR, DVD, AUD or CBL.)

3. Press and hold the “Setup” button at the top of the Cogeco remote until it flashes red twice.

4. Enter “991″ on the Cogeco remote number pad.

5. Aim the Cogeco remote at your TV or other device and press “PWR” once.

6. Press and release the “CH+” and stop when your TV or other device turns off. (Note: This causes the Cogeco remote to scroll through all the device codes that are contained in the remotes library.)

7. Press “PWR” and the TV should turn back on. (Note: If the TV does not turn on, press the “CH-” key slowly and then press “Setup” when the TV turns back on.)

8. Press “Setup” to lock the code into your Cogeco remote.

9. Your Cogeco remote control should now be controlling your TV or other device.

Lets say you are interested in having the message downloaded to your computer and for it to remain on the Cogeco Webmail server for safe keeping, in case you accidentally delete the message off your computer or whatever.

To do so, you can follow these steps. Please note, these steps are for Microsoft Outlook. The steps may very if you are using a different email client. If you need help with your specific client you can go to the Cogeco Forum, sign up for a 100% free account and get the answers to your Cogeco questions.

1. Open Microsoft Outlook
2. Click on “Tools” from the top menu
3. Choose “Account Settings”
4. Select your email address
5. Select “change”
6. Click “more settings” or “advanced” depending on your version of Microsoft Outlook
7. If you had to click on “more settings” choose the “advanced tab”, if not go to step #8
8. Make sure the option that says, “Leave a copy of the message on the server” is NOT selected.

1. Open Microsoft Outlook

2. Click on File -> Import and Export

3. Select Export to File and click next

4. Choose the type of file you would like to export the Cogeco email contact list to (this can be .csv, excel, etc..) and click next.

5. Choose Contacts from the displayed listing, click next

6. Browse to a file location, where you would like the file to be saved.

7. Click Finish. You will see a window pop up that completes the exportation of your Cogeco contacts.

8. If you now go to the location you saved the file all your Cogeco email contact information should be there in the exported file.

1. Open Thunderbird and click on Tools -> Account Settings.

2. From the account settings window click on Account Actions from the bottom left of the screen.

3. Select Add Mail Account from the Account Actions menu

4. Fill in the information on the Mail Account Setup screen. Make sure you enter your Cogeco email address and Cogeco password correctly, and click ok.

5. Click stop on this screen as it is searching for an IMAP server and this is not what we want.

6. Now click the drop down that currently says IMAP and change it to pop, and enter pop.cogeco.ca for the incoming mail server. The outgoing mail server should be smtp.cogeco.ca. Make sure this screen looks exactly like the screen below. Then hit the Re-Test configuration button and then the Create Account button.

7. Now click the check box and select Create Account if you accept the terms.

8. Click the ok button on this screen

9. Now you should be at the main Thunderbird screen. You can watch the green bar in the bottom right corner to view your connection progress.

TIP: You don’t need to use the Cogeco Webmail service to view your Cogeco emails. You can setup your Cogeco email address in just about any email client. There are a wide range of email clients to choose from, Windows Mail, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Evolution and many, many more exist. What one should you use? Whatever one you prefer.

5. Choose POP from the top drop down. Enter pop.cogeco.ca for the incoming mail server and enter your full email address for your username.

7. Here you need to enter the outgoing mail server info. For Cogeco, it is smtp.cogeco.ca

8. Enter the name you would like to call this email account. This can be anything you want.

10. You can now exit the Account Preferences window.

11. Click on the Send/ Receive button at the top of the Evolution main screen and you should see any new emails pop in. That is if you have any new mail.
